Arts Integration Success Stories

In a Pecha Kucha (Japanese presentation format in which multiple speakers share ideas in a short period of time: 20 slides in 7 minutes tell each story), four success stories are shared:

Shakespeare with Heart:
Hear the story of this amazing program which builds community among students with special needs and their peers through theatre experiences. Told by Anne Herring, Education Director, Orlando Shakespeare Theatre.

Arts Schools Network Exemplary School Program: Find out about the Florida schools that have been recognized in this great program. Learn about how YOU can participate in the Program. Told by Kristy Callaway, Executive Director, Arts Schools Network.

Symphonic Stories: When the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra musicians and a cadre of teaching artists joined together to create this new opportunity for 2nd grade students to create their own arts integrated stories and tell them through music, puppetry and drama, magic happened. Told by Leia Barrett, Education Director, Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra; and Abigail New, 2nd grade teacher, Grand Avenue Primary Learning Center (Orange County.)

Thematic Instruction: Get a glimpse of the arts integration journey of FAAE Arts Achieve! Model School Muller Elementary Magnet School, Hillsborough County. As told by Dr. Kelly Guerts, First Grade Teacher and recently named Arts Integration Lead Teacher, the Muller story will inspire you and your school with their school-wide approach to studying and celebrating important learning "themes" during each school year.
