Advocacy and Public Awareness
Parents, teachers, business leaders, school administrators, and policy-makers share an interest – along with every child in Florida – in ensuring that all students receive a complete education that includes the arts. Advocacy begins with public awareness of the unique role of the arts in educating the whole child and the power of the arts to help children become robust learners in every subject. FAAE also works to shape and support policies and programs that ensure that every child in Florida has a complete education that includes arts education. Improved Practice
Making the latest research, tools and techniques available to teachers and administrators in the field ensures that Florida’s students benefit from the best practices in education. Our national and statewide partnerships provide access to new data and best practices. The FAAE website is an information hub to access state and national resources. Programs and Partners
Network Partnerships
Local, county-based coalitions made up of educators, parents, community members form a network that reaches across the state. As local representatives of FAAE, Network Partners advocate for arts education, expand public awareness and build partnerships between schools and communities. Statewide Partners
The Florida Department of Education and the Florida Department of State/Division of Cultural Affairs collaborate with FAAE to form a public-private partnership. FAAE provides outreach to the field for these governmental entities. State service organizations that serve the education and cultural professionals of Florida act as an advisory board to FAAE and bring the perspective of a the various stakeholders in the education and cultural life of Floridians. Kennedy Center Partnership
FAAE is the designated representative to the Kennedy Center Alliance for Arts Education. This association brings with it partnership with Kennedy Center National Partners including: Arts Education Partnership, National School Board Association, Americans for the Arts, and the National Symphony Orchestra. These partnerships give access to national recognition for students, schools and school boards, scholarship and grant programs, and research and evaluation tools. Projects
FAAE has taken on projects that establish models or make use of a state-wide resource. Curriculum projects include development and statewide dissemination of curriculum units that teach literacy, history and Florida culture through the arts. Most recently a middle school curriculum and online resource for parents, students, and teachers on careers in the arts was published. (Visit 'Teachers' Resources' to find these resouces.)
Based on research findings, FAAE offers workshops and symposia that offer professional development for classroom teachers, arts specialists and teaching arts that bring the latest techniques to the field. Research projects study and document exemplary arts education programs and schools and the overall achievement of students with an arts rich education.

Recognition
Establishing standards of excellence and recognizing those who achieve them, raises the bar for all. FAAE recognition programs provide opportunities for self-assessment, external review and comparison against national standards. (Visit 'Recognizing Best Practices' for more information.)
