Arts
Education in Florida's public schools is at risk. The
weight of evidence supporting the value of arts education
to student engagement and learning is significant,
but anticipated budget reductions in education triggered
by the global recession could result in significant
cuts in or the loss of arts education programs in our
public schools. Now, perhaps more than ever
before, it is important for ACE Coalitions and other
arts education advocates to stay in close communication
with their local District Superintendents and Schools
Boards and work with them to ensure that arts education
does not sustain a disproportionate share of the cuts.
