Dear Teachers,

Thank you for investing your time into the lives of young people.
While teaching your regular subject, you now have the privilege of
guiding your students through an exploration of careers. Your care
and guidance will make a difference to so many students, for years
to come. You may have a student sitting in your classroom today,
who will find a career that will meet his/her interests and talents.
Years later, a student will attribute learning about a career because
of your class. That is very exciting!

This website is intended to be a resource for learning about careers
in the Arts. While certain careers quickly come to mind, others are
so unique and specialized that we may never have imagined them.
An artist, composer, singer, dancer, and instrumentalist are some
obvious ones, but what about a medical illustrator, a tour manager,
a video game designer, a curator, or a radio producer being
considerations?

Please guide your students to look over the “Bank of Careers” and
learn about the various possibilities that are available. What is
amazing are the careers that have never been heard of, nor thought
of as part of the Arts. It would be great to hear their comments
about their new discoveries.

When the students “take the tour”, they will be introduced to 5
specific careers. Information has been gathered from professionals
who are actually involved in these careers. The students will be
asked to comment and answer questions as they go through the
tour.

Hopefully, you can have a discussion with your students about
starting to prepare for careers NOW, by striving to do well
in school, being involved in community projects, being a part of
creative teams within the school, and planning for the future.

The students will enter their “door” and find written information as
well as podcasts and videos. Exploring various careers should help
them to begin thinking towards the future and taking positive steps
to achieve their goals.

Please feel free to “take the tour” and help your students to enjoy
learning about new things. And remember, your enthusiasm is
contagious!

Sincerely,
