Arts Integration for Teaching Artists and Others

The programs focus on sharing examples of schools and community organizations that successfully integrate the arts as an important avenue for learning and for engagement.  Classroom/subject area teachers, arts teachers, administrators, teaching artists, community arts organizations and others are invited to participate in this series.

Art as Text: Visual Storytelling to the Core, investigates literacy learning as a process and thereciprocal role of the arts in equipping college and career ready students with the 21st century skills of: Critical thinking and problem solving, Communication, Collaboration, and Creativity and innovation.  Specific lesson demonstrations, recommendations and suggestions for implementation will be provided.  Part one of two.

LITERACY through the ARTS:  WRITE On!, investigates literacy learning as a process and the reciprocal role of the arts in equipping college and career ready students with the 21st century skills of: Critical thinking and problem solving, Communication, Collaboration, and Creativity and innovation.  Susan Rosoff and Mary Palmer share a specific unit of arts integrated instruction leading from a sketch by Vincent van Gogh to student-created stories with choreography, soundscape, and narration.
